Hurstville, Uniting Church

Hurstville Uniting Church is located along The Avenue, in the southern suburb of Hurstville. It was originally a Methodist Church, designed by A. Parsons and built in 1903 in the Victorian Rustic Gothic architectural style.

Circular Quay, restaurant

This heritage listed building is located along the foreshore of Sydney Harbour at East Circular Quay. It was built in 1910 in the Federation architectural style for the workers of wharf facilities here that serviced many trading ships during the early to mid 1900s. The public lavatories remained in use until 1987 when the building was redeveloped and the usage changed to a restaurant. The Sydney Cove Oyster Bar has traded here since.

Botanic Gardens, fence

Looking up to the Botanic Gardens from Macquarie Street, near the Sydney Opera House. The Tarpeian Way is the pathway that runs along the fence line, which is on the edge of a steep cliff known as the Tarpeian Wall.

Museum of Sydney, Captain Arthur Phillip

This bronze sculpture is a bust of Captain Arthur Phillip, who commanded the First Fleet to Australia in 1788 and became the first Governor of New South Wales. It was sculpted in 1952 by Jean Hill and originally located in First Fleet Park at Circular Quay. It was moved into storage during the expansion of the Museum of Contemporary Art in 2010. After undergoing conservation work, at First Government House Place in 2014, the forecourt of the Museum of Sydney and the former site of Governor Arthur Phillip's Government House.

Sydney Harbour Bridge, ferries

These two Sydney ferries make their way past the Sydney Harbour Bridge towards Circular Quay. The Supply and the Borrowdale are First Fleet Class ferries acquired by Sydney Ferries in 1984 and 1985. They are named after two of the eleven ships of the First Fleet that sailed to Australia in 1787.

Camperdown, University of Sydney, MacLaurin Hall

MacLaurin Hall is part of the Quadrangle Group of buildings on the University of Sydney campus, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. It was designed by Edmund Blacket assisted by Walter Liberty Vernon in the Gothic Revival architectural style and built in 1909 originally as the Fisher Library and the Nicholson Museum. When a new Fisher Library was built in 1965, it became known as MacLaurin Hall after Sir Henry Normand MacLaurin who was Chancellor from 1896 until his death in 1914.

Camperdown, University of Sydney, Badham Building

The Badham Building is located along Science Road on the University of Sydney campus, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. This first purpose-built science laboratory was designed by James Barnet with Professor of Physics, Richard Threlfall. It was altered by Professor Leslie Wilkinson in 1940 with his interpretation of Italianate architectural style to create a Mediterranean style of architecture along Science Road.

Camperdown, University of Sydney, John Woolley Building

The John Woolley Building is located along Science Road on the University of Sydney campus, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. This heritage listed building was designed by Walter Liberty Vernon and built in 1908 in the Federation Arts and Crafts architectural style. Its design was altered by Professor Leslie Wilkinson in 1921 and a southern addition was built in 1940. It now houses a post office and is part of the School of Letters, Art and Media in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Camperdown, University of Sydney, Teachers' College

The Old Teachers' College Building, is located along Manning Road on the University of Sydney campus, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. It was designed by George McRae and built in 1912 in the Gothic Revival architectural style. The Faculty of Education and Social Work moved into this building in 1994.

Camperdown, University of Sydney, Gardener’s Lodge Cafe

The Gardener’s Lodge Cafe is located on the grounds of Victoria Park, in the inner city suburb of Camperdown. The Gardener’s Lodge was designed by James Barnet and built in 1885 in the Victorian Gothic Revival architectural style. The gate on the corner of City Road and Parramatta Road provided a grand main entrance to the University of Sydney and the lodge was the former home of the university's groundskeeper, who tended the sweeping lawns and gardens surrounding the campus. In 1911, ownership passed to the City of Sydney and the building was converted into public toilets, which closed in the mid-1980s. The building was restored in 2012 and reopened as a cafe.

Cahill Expressway

The Cahill Expressway, viewed from the Art Gallery Road Bridge, up towards the city. This section of the roadway is in a sunken cutting between The Domain and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Cahill Expressway was the first freeway constructed in Australia and opened to traffic in 1958. It is named after the then New South Wales Premier John Joseph Cahill, who also approved construction of the Sydney Opera House.

Bondi, Sculpture by the Sea

The 18th annual Sculpture by the Sea outdoor sculpture exhibition ran from 23 October to 9 November 2014. The sculptures were located on the cliff along the two kilometre coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama. "To Take Care Of" by Hanna Streefkerk was one of the oddest sculptures this year, which basically consisted of rocks partly covered in low-cut socks clustered together in a few spots on the cliff at Bondi. The view looking out over Bondi Bay towards North Bondi is more impressive.

Hyde Park Obelisk, advertisement

The Hyde Park Obelisk is located on the western edge of Hyde Park at the junction of Elizabeth Street and Bathurst Street. Last week, the obelisk was clad in an 18 metre condom as part of an advertising campaign for HIV/AIDS prevention. The controversial promotion sparked some debate among locals and had Christian activists slamming it as inappropriate in public. The message reads "Test More + Treat Early + Stay Safe = Ending HIV".

Surry Hills, mural

This mural is painted on the side of a terrace house along Nickson Street, in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills. Located beside the Pawley Street Playground, it was originally created by artist Peter Day in 1981 and restored in 2012. There are 39 Australian native birds hidden in this bush backdrop including the Superb Fairy-Wren, Willie Wagtail, Australian Magpie, Rainbow Lorikeet, Crimson Rosella, Laughing Kookaburra, Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, Tawny Frogmouth, Black Cockatoo and Pale Rosella.

Five Dock, Uniting Church

The Five Dock Uniting Church is located along Garfield Street, in the inner west suburb of Five Dock. It was originally built as a Methodist Church in 1939 in the Inter War architectural style. This church joined the "Uniting Church in Australia" in 1977.

Tamarama, Sculpture by the Sea

Sculpture by the Sea was the outdoor sculpture exhibition which ran from 23 October to 9 November 2014, along the two kilometre coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama. "Wind Stone - The Threshold of Consciousness" is a sculpture created by Koichi Ishino. It was located along the cliffs, looking out to the Pacific Ocean, in the eastern suburb of Tamarama.

The 18th annual Sculpture by the Sea outdoor sculpture exhibition ran from 23 October to 9 November 2014. These sculptures were located at Marks Park, in the eastern suburb of Tamarama, looking out to the Pacific Ocean, Bondi and North Bondi. The sky was very changeable on this day so we had bouts of clear and overcast skies throughout the day.

Tamarama, Sculpture by the Sea

The 18th annual Sculpture by the Sea outdoor sculpture exhibition was located on the two kilometre coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama. "Wine Talk" by Richard Tipping was a set of sculptures that were located in four different locations along the route in Bondi and Tamarama. Each sculpture consists of six colourful road signs featuring wine descriptions.

St Agnes Catholic Church is located along Bunnerong Road in the eastern suburb of Matraville. This war memorial church was built in 1959 and is dedicated to the fallen of both World Wars in 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.

Sydney skyline, Botanic Gardens

The Sydney skyline viewed at night from the Domain, near Mrs Macquaries Point looking across Farm Cove and Royal Botanic Gardens. A mist hangs around the tops of the office buildings and Sydney Tower.

Sydney Mint Museum

The Sydney Mint Museum is located on Macquarie Street, Sydney. This heritage listed building was built in the Georgian architectural style between 1811 and 1816 as the southern wing of the Sydney Hospital, then known as the Rum Hospital. A mint was established in 1854 on the site with this building used for administration, storage and accommodation for the Mint Master and mint staff, with the actual manufacture of coins in a group of buildings to the rear. Since 1979 it has housed a museum, library, cafe and the head office of Sydney Living Museums.

Watsons Bay, restaurant

Doyles on the Beach is a restaurant along Marine Parade, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. The Doyle family opened Australia's first seafood restaurant on this site in 1885, on the foreshore of Watsons Bay overlooking Sydney Harbour.

Five Dock, bank

This heritage listed bank is located along Great North Road, in the inner west suburb of Five Dock. It was built in 1924 in the Georgian/Classical Revival architectural style for The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney. The CBC bank merged with the National Bank of Australasia in the 1980s to become the National Australia Bank.

Maroubra, St Edmunds Anglican Church

St Edmunds Anglican Church is located on the corner of Wild Street and Holden Street, in the eastern suburb of Maroubra. While it is technically located in Maroubra, it is considered to be the parish of Eastgardens and since 1998 the church has also been known as the Wild Street Anglican Church.
