Chippendale, One Central Park

 
Central Park Mall is bounded by Broadway, Chippendale Way, Central Park Avenue and Carlton Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. This shopping centre on six levels features fashion and lifestyle boutiques, supermarkets, eateries, cinemas and an outdoor space. One Central Park are the two apartment buildings which tower above. The vertical gardens were a collaboration between French botanist Patrick Blanc and the architects Ateliers Jean Nouvel. The native Australian plants, flowers and vines stretch over 50 metres high, making it the world's tallest vertical garden.

Chippendale, heliostat (Theme Day: Reflections in Windows)

One Central Park consists of two residential towers above a retail complex along Broadway designed by architect Jean Nouvel with artist and botanist Patrick Blanc, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. The taller tower features a hovering cantilever heliostat with an assembly of motorised mirrors that capture sunlight and direct the rays down onto Central Park's gardens. At night, an LED art installation by conceptual artist Yann Kersalé creates a shimmering display in the sky. Central Park is an urban redevelopment of the former Kent Street Brewery.

Chippendale, Central Park, Halo

 "Halo" is a wind activated kinetic sculpture in the middle of Chippendale Green, along O'Connor Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. The giant yellow ring measuring 12 metres in diameter is attached to a 6 metre long silver arm, which pivots off-centre atop a 13 metre high tilted silver pole. It was created in 2012 by Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford.

This is one of two signpost sculptures which stand in the middle of indoor gardens in Central Park Mall, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. It is made up of copper pots which direct you to the location of Palace Cinemas on Level 3 and the eateries in the Level 2 food court. Chippendale, Local Memory

Looking back at a temporary public art project called "Artists In Residence" on the heritage brewery buildings at Central Park site, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. "Local Memory" by Brook Andrew comprises of a series of portraits of people who worked in or were associated with the brewery's history between 1909 and 1998. The 18 portraits are almost 3 metres high each and fit neatly into the exposed grid of floors and walls on the northern exterior wall of the old Irving Street Brewery building.

Chippendale, houses (Theme Day: Neighbourhood)

These terrace houses are located along Kensington Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. This neighbourhood once housed the workers at the former Kent Brewery, which had also been known as the Carlton and United brewery, the Irving Street brewery and the Tooth brewery. These heritage buildings have been retained and incorporated in the new Central Park redevelopment as a shopping and restaurant precinct.

The "Strickland Building" contains residential flats, a gallery and retail shops along Cleveland Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. It was designed by R. M. Broderick and built in the early 1900s in the Federation Arts and Crafts architectural style.

Chippendale, pub and gate

The Clare Hotel and the former entrance of the Carlton and United Brewery are located along Broadway, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. The heritage listed Hotel Clare was built in 1941 in the Inter-War Functionalist style on the corner of Broadway and Kensington Street. It has also been known as the Kegroom Tavern, County Clare Inn and County Clare Hotel over the years. The Old Clare Hotel is a boutique hotel which stretches across the pub and the former Carlton & United Breweries Administration Building. The heritage listed gate of the former Kent Brewery, later Tooth's Brewery and then Carlton Brewery, stands next to the pub leading to Carlton Street. It still bears the logo and trademark of brewer Tooth and Co, Invicta the rampant stallion.

Chippendale, Blackfriars Public School

The former Blackfriars Public School is located on the corner of Buckland Street and Blackfriars Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. It was designed by George Allen Mansfield and built in 1885 in the the Victorian Free Gothic style. At the time, it was thought that the grand design was due to the government wanting to outshine the St Benedict’s Catholic and St Barnabas’ Anglican schools. It is now part of the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).

This former warehouse is located on the corner of Myrtle Street and Shepherd Street, in the inner city suburb of Chippendale. It now has a mix of commercial and residential space. It houses the Art & Technology of Make-Up College which provides training for the film, television, theatre, special effects and fashion industries.
