Bronte, baths

Bronte Baths are located at the southern end of Bronte Beach, in the eastern suburb of Bronte. This pool is known as the Bond Ocean Pool after lifesaving pioneer and swimming teacher, Major John Bond.

Clovelly, bay

 
These life guards patrol Clovelly Bay at Clovelly Beach, in the eastern suburb of Clovelly. The swimmers are on the southern concrete promenade with waves crashing on the rocks at Shark Point, in the background.

Marrickville, mural

This artwork is in the Marrickville Metro shopping centre, in the inner west suburb of Marrickville. A number of these flower murals in this location were painted in 2018 by Andrew Dennis from Studio Dennis.

Gladesville, St Andrew Greek Orthodox Church

St Andrew Greek Orthodox Church is located along Wharf Road in the north western suburb of Gladesville.

Sydney Opera House, Bicentenary of Greek Independence

The Sydney Opera House was lit up on 25 March 2021 with a projection of the colours of the Greek flag to mark 200 years of Greece's Independence. At an official ceremony, dignitaries spoke about the importance of recognising the contribution of Greek people to Australia.

Coogee Beach, rainbow walkway

This giant rainbow is at the steps of the lower promenade at Coogee Beach, in the eastern suburb of Coogee. The 47 metre rainbow theme walkway was painted in time for the annual Sydney Mardi Gras, in support of the LGBTIQA+ community.

Summer Hill, Lewisham West light rail stop

 The Lewisham West Light Rail Stop entrance from Malthouse Way, in the inner west suburb of Summer Hill. This stop is on the Central to Dulwich Hill Line of the Sydney Light Rail Network, beside the former Mungo Scott Ltd flour mill in Summer Hill, which opened in 1922 and was used as a processing facility for wheat grown around New South Wales until 2009. The site was redeveloped in 2019 to create residential apartments and terrace houses. The heritage main building contains commercial and exhibition spaces and a community centre.

Kurnell, Cape Solander

The view of the rugged coastline from Cape Solander Lookout in Kamay Botany Bay National Park, in the southern suburb of Kurnell. Cape Solander is named for Daniel Solander, a Swedish naturalist who with his assistant Herman Spöring, accompanied Joseph Banks on James Cook's first voyage to the Pacific Ocean aboard the Endeavour.

Coogee, beach showers

These outdoor showers are located beside the upper promenade in Goldstein Reserve at Coogee Beach, in the eastern suburb of Coogee.

Newtown, street library

 This community street library is located on the corner of Australia Street and Lennox Street, in the inner west suburb of Newtown. It allows people to borrow books for free, which can either be returned or exchanged for another book. The mural painted on the box features a book worm.

Dulwich Hill, St Paul of the Cross, hall

 The former St Paul of the Cross Catholic church, now the parish hall, is located along New Canterbury Road, in the inner west suburb of Dulwich Hill. It was built in 1909 in the Federation style beside the current church built in 1925 and has also served as a school. The hall has a contemporary extension on the right.

Coogee, Surf Life Saving Club

The Coogee Surf Life Saving Club is located on the cliff at the southern end of Coogee Beach, along Beach Street in the eastern suburb of Coogee. The club was founded in 1907 and the art deco design clubhouse was refurbished in 2020 with a controversial alteration to the facade. The Ross Jones Memorial Pool, located below the club, was built in 1947. The National Trust has observed that the pool is significant due to the unique design, which includes concrete piers that extend above the wall resembling turrets at the top of a sandcastle.

Coogee, beach

Looking across Coogee Beach to Coogee Bay and the Pacific Ocean, in the eastern suburb of Coogee. Two of these red and yellow flags mark the safe, patrolled area for swimmers. A rescue tube hangs off the flag and a lifeguard surfboard sits nearby, in case of emergency.

Monterey, Botany Bay, sign

 Looking out on Botany Bay from Cook Park, in the southern suburb of Monterey. These signs are markers at landmarks along Lady Robinsons Beach on the shore of the bay.

Kurnell, boardwalk

This boardwalk with surfboard benches provides an entrance to Silver Beach, in the southern suburb of Kurnell. Two fisherman are fishing from the sand on either side of a rock groyne which juts into Botany Bay, with the long oil refinery wharf on the tight.

Kurnell, The Nuwi Canoes

This bronze sculpture is located along the shore of Botany Bay, in the southern suburb of Kurnell. 'The Nuwi Canoes' were designed by Theresa Ardler and Julie Squires. It is one of the three sculptures installed in 2020 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the encounter between Aboriginal Australians and the crew of the HMB Endeavour, commanded byJames Cook, with botanist Joseph Banks. The Gweagal Clan traditionally fished from stringy bark canoes such like these. They lit fires in their canoes on a base of white clay. The firelight attracted fish to the canoe, making them easier to catch. During their ‘first contact’ observations, both Cook and Banks recorded this practice.

This mural is on the side of a shop on the corner of Station Street and Schwebel Street, in the inner west suburb of Marrickville.

Hurstville, Memorial Square

Memorial Square is located along Forest Road, in the southern suburb of Hurstville. The Hurstville War Memorial in the centre of the square was erected in 1922 to commemorate those who died in service or were killed in action during World War One.

 Bado-Berong Creek runs through Scott Park and forms a natural border between the southern suburbs of Sandringham and Sans Souci.

  A sunset view across Johnstons Bay to the western pylon of the Anzac Bridge and industrial silos at Glebe Island at Rozelle from Pirrama Park, in the inner city suburb of Pyrmont.

Glebe, Selfie Love

 'Selfie Love' is an art installation in the Broadway Shopping Centre, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. The booth provides features mirror balls and pink neon love hearts for shoppers to take selfies.

Surry Hills, Prince Alfred Park, rainbow walkway

This rainbow walkway is in Prince Alfred Park, in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills. It was installed in 2021 as a reminder both for how far the LGBTQI+ community has come and how far it has to go. The building behind it is Inner Sydney High School which opened in 2021 on the former site of Cleveland Street High School.

Kurnell, The Whales

This large bronze sculpture is located along the shore of Botany Bay, in the southern suburb of Kurnell. 'The Whales' (Wi-Yanga and Gurung) were designed by Theresa Ardler and Julie Squires. The fishing net, also known as a ‘rock weave’, was woven by Aboriginal Master Weaver Phyllis Stewart, and cast into bronze by Julie Squires. It is one of the three sculptures installed in 2020 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the encounter between Aboriginal Australians and the crew of the HMB Endeavour, commanded by James Cook. It is connected to the rock engravings of the mother humpback whale and her baby at La Perouse on the shores of Botany Bay, a prominent landmark which continues to hold a cultural and spiritual connection to the sea and country.

Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, mural

This mural was on display in the shopfront of the Centre for Contemporary Asian Art on the corner of George Street and Goulburn Street in World Square. The artworks on display were commissioned as part of Sydney Lunar Festival 2021 and were created by artist James Jirat Patradoon.

Kurnell, St John Fisher Catholic Church

St John Fisher Catholic Church is located along Prince Charles Parade, in the southern suburb of Kurnell. It was built in 1938 and is dedicated to St John Fisher, the martyred Bishop of Rochester, England and later Cardinal Priest.

Glebe, Tunnel of Love

'Tunnel of Love' is an art installation in the Broadway Shopping Centre, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. It is located around two travelators near the Bay Street entrance and features two giant neon rainbows, mirror balls and neon love hearts. The rainbow theme is for the annual Sydney Mardi Gras, tonight at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Bronte Beach

Bronte Beach is a popular beach in the eastern suburb of Bronte. The signs declare that the beach is closed to swimmers due to rough conditions but life guards keep watch on surfers. The swimmers sunbaking on the sand were swimming in the nearby Bronte Baths.

Clovelly, bay

These surf rescue life guards are on the northern concrete promenade at Clovelly Beach, in the eastern suburb of Clovelly. The swimmers are in Clovelly Bay and Coogee can be seen in the distance.

Kurnell, The Eyes of the Land and the Sea

 This large bronze sculpture is located on the shore of Botany Bay, in the southern suburb of Kurnell. It is one of the three sculptures installed in 2020 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the encounter between Aboriginal Australians and the crew of the HMB Endeavour, commanded by James Cook. 'The Eyes of the Land and the Sea' was designed by Alison Page and Nik Lachacjzak and is described as an ‘abstraction of the ribs of the HMB Endeavour and the bones of the Gweagal totem the whale’. Each rib or bone has a different surface treatment, including carvings and text to represent the numerous layers of culture and history in Kamay Botany Bay.

Queen Victoria Building (Theme Day: Mirror)

The Queen Victoria Building is a shopping centre bounded by George, Market, York and Druitt Streets. The heritage listed building was completed in 1898 in the Romanesque Revival architecture. It was restored in 1986 as a landmark retail centre. These controversial modern escalators were installed in the voids in 2009, with mirrored sides and bottoms designed to make them less intrusive.
