Dawes Point, public toilet


 This automated public toilet is located along Hickson Road, in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point. It features vertical wall gardens and a horizontal roof garden. It is located in the front of a disused former ablutions block, connected to a sandstone cliff face.

The Rocks, sculpture


This public artwork is located outside the Sirius Building, along Cumberland Street at The Rocks. "Bound" was created by Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan in 2024 and conveys a message of a sense of belonging to a place whilst remembering journeys taken and explorations still to come. The six-metre-long cast bronze sculpture in the form of a sea vessel comprised of 85 pieces of luggage tied together by more than 150 metres of rope.

Dawes Point, art

This artwork created for the Sydney Festival 2025 is located on the pedestrian bridge over Hickson Road in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point. The bridge links Wharf 2/3 at Walsh Bay to Pottinger Park with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the distance. 'Ngabu' was designed by Aunty Lola Ryan in homage to the series of shell harbour bridges created by her mother Lola Delia Ryan which are now found in the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Dawes Point, Hickson Road

These former bond stores opposite Walsh Bay Wharves have been redeveloped for use as shops and restaurants along Hickson Road in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point. Feekah Cafe Sydney is described as a pink floral cafe and features window displays of pink flowers on pink bicycles. The tree casting a shadow is in the median strip of the road, where two blue, share e-bikes have also been abandoned.

Walsh Bay, Sydney Festival, The Thirsty Mile

Sydney Festival is an annual art festival in the City of Sydney, which this year ran from 4 to 26 January 2025. The Thirsty Mile featured festival events at the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, spread across venues on Wharf 4/5, Pier 2/3 and Hickson Road at Dawes Point. The Moonshine Bar was the social centrepiece of the precinct with a Colour Maze and cafe by day and free live music and DJs by night.

Walsh Bay, Sydney Festival


Sydney Festival is an annual art festival in the City of Sydney since 1977, which this year ran from 4 to 26 January 2025. The Thirsty Mile featured festival events at the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, spread across venues on Wharf 4/5, Pier 2/3 and Hickson Road at Dawes Point. The giant festival ‘S’ logo and banners have been decorated by Telly Tuita, Sydney Festival's Visual Artist in Residence at The Thirsty Mile. The SS John Oxley is a steamship decorated with the artist's signature textiles and patterns.

Dawes Point, cannon

This canon is located  beneath the southern approach to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point. There are five 42 pounder smooth-bore guns, c1850 cannon, from the former Dawes Point Battery positioned here in Dawes Point ParkFour of the gun barrels are in gravel plots in the approximate position of the outer ring of guns at the battery. This one sits on a replica of the gun carriage, positioned on the original emplacement, pointed into Sydney Harbour.

Sydney Harbour Bridge, ferries


These Sydney Ferries make their way past the Sydney Harbour Bridge departing and arriving at Circular Quay.The Fishburn is a First Fleet ferry acquired in 1985 and operates on the Inner Harbour. It was named Fishburn, after one of eleven ships of the First Fleet that sailed to Australia in 1787.

Dawes Point, wharves

 
A view of the Walsh Bay wharves, in the inner city suburb of Dawes Point, in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from a boat on Sydney Harbour. This Sydney Rivercat Class ferry is part of the fleet that cruises up the Parramatta River. It was acquired in 1993 and named after Marjorie Jackson, an Australian Olympic athlete. A train can also be seen crossing the bridge.

Dawes Point, tall ship

This tall ship is passing Pier 2 and Pier 3 of the Walsh Bay wharves at Dawes Point. The Coral Trekker is a square-rigged, wooden tall ship with distinctive rusty red sails. Her keel was laid in 1939 and Norwegian Adventures sailed her to New Zealand as the Ho Ho 2 where she was sold into the fishing industry. She was refitted by Australian Himalayan Expeditions and renamed “Coral Trekker”. She spent twenty-five years in the Whitsundays before moving to Sydney where she is involved in maritime training and does daily sails and charters on Sydney Harbour.
