Sylvania Waters, canal

This canal is viewed from Belgrave Esplanade, in the southern suburb of Sylvania Waters. The suburb features artificial islands which have been built on land reclaimed from Gwawley Bay on the Georges River. Many houses have private wharves, pontoons or boat ramps on the canals.

Cronulla, bank


Banc is a commercial building on the corner of Cronulla Street and Ocean Grove Avenue, in the southern suburb of Cronulla. The heritage listed building was built for the Commonwealth Bank in 1938 in the art deco style. It was incorporated into a new redevelopment in 2018 which converted the former bank to a restaurant and created boutiques and luxury apartments behind it. The old bank can be seen here.

Cronulla, mural


This mural is on the garage of a commercial building on the corner of Gerrale Street and Nicholson Parade, in the southern suburb of Cronulla. It recently housed a laundrette on the ground floor and Pilgrim's Vegeterian Cafe on the first floor but is currently being redeveloped. The images in the mural are of the nearby Cronulla beaches, which can be seen from the front of the building.

Sydenham, railway station

Sydenham railway station is a junction for the Sydney Trains T4 Illawarra and T8 South raklway lines and the Sydney Metro North West & Bankstown railway lines. It opened on 15 October 1884 as Marrickville on the Illawarra line to Hurstville. It was renamed Sydenham on 19 January 1895 when the Bankstown line opened to Belmore and a new railway station was built closer to the centre of Marrickville. These stairs link platforms 4 and 5 with the concourse.

Tom Uglys Bridge

Looking underneath Tom Uglys Bridge, which crosses the Georges River and links the southern suburbs of Blakehurst and Sylvania. This truss bridge on the left, opened in 1929 and the box girder bridge on the right, opened in 1987. To the north is Tom Uglys Point at Blakehurst, believed to be named after local resident Tom Huxley and transformed by the mispronunciation by local Aborigines.

Tom Uglys Bridge, Georges River

Tom Uglys Bridge crosses the Georges River and links the southern suburbs of Blakehurst and Sylvania. This view is from a boat ramp at the Sylvania end between the truss bridge on the left, which opened in 1929 and the box girder bridge on the right, which opened in 1987. Bardwell Valley, Silver Jubilee Park, planter box


This planter box is in Silver Jubilee Park, on the corner of Lorraine Avenue and Alsace Avenue, in the southern suburb of Bardwell Valley. Soon after it was installed, it was tagged with graffiti. Then another street artist covered the tag with three images of cats. So far, the local council hasn't removed this street art.

Haymarket, Darling Square, Steam Mill Lane

This sculpture is one of eight designs suspended above Steam Mill Lane at Darling Square, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. "Night and Day, Day and Night" features large and colourful geometric shapes created by Peta Kruger. At night neon lights flick on inside the shapes to illuminate the shapes, colours and the street below.

This community street library is located outside a house along Robert Street, in the inner west suburb of Marrickville. It allows people to borrow books for free, which can either be returned or exchanged for another book.
