Carlton, shop


This historic shop is located along Willison Road in the southern suburb of Carlton. The building had fallen into disrepair but in 2021 the facade was restored to its former glory and is now used as a house.

'Tonbridge' is a heritage listed house along Gladstone Street in the southern suburb of Bexley. It was designed in the Victorian Filigree style and built in 1873.

Glebe, Bellevue Cottage


'Bellevue Cottage' is located at the end of Leichhardt Street, overlooking Blackwattle Bay, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. This heritage-listed waterfront building was built in 1896 in the Victorian Italianate style, originally as a residence. This is a heritage photo from 2012 when it was used as a cafe but it is now a French restaurant which I posted here.

This footbridge is located  at the South Head peninsula, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. It links the Hornby Lighthouse to this lighthouse keeper's cottage in the Sydney Harbour National Park.

Glebe, Bellevue Cottage

'Bellevue Cottage' is located at the end of Leichhardt Street, overlooking Blackwattle Bay, in the inner west suburb of Glebe. This heritage-listed waterfront building was built in 1896 in the Victorian Italianate style, originally as a residence but is now a French restaurant. Watsons Bay, lighthouse keeper's cottage


This lighthouse keeper's cottage is located at the South Head peninsula, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. The footbridge links to the Hornby Lighthouse, in the Sydney Harbour National Park. Two sandstone cottages were designed by colonial architect Alexander Dawson and built in 1858 in the Victorian architectural style.

Rockdale, house

 
'Hillside' is a historic house located on the corner of Villiers Street and Oswell Street, in the southern suburb of Rockdale. It was built around 1910 in the Federation Style and was the Favell family home but also the meeting spot for the Congregationalist Church. There have been plans to demolish the house and redevelop the property but the local council recently listed it for heritage protection so that may not happen.

These houses are located at the end of View Street, in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. "Terrace Views" is a complex of terrace-style units and townhouses.

Lewisham, sewer vent


Lewisham Sewer Vent is located along The Boulevarde, in the inner west suburb of Lewisham. The heritage listed sewer vent shaft and wall were built in 1909 in the Queen Anne Revival style.

Bondi Beach, houses

 
These brightly coloured houses are along Roscoe Street, in the eastern suburb of Bondi Beach. A curious but fun message has been embedded in the facade of the carport of one of these houses: Stop Making Sense.

Millers Point, Windmill Street

 
These buildings are located Windmill Street in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. On the left corner, as Windmill Street wraps around, is the heritage-listed Oswald Bond Store with an entrance in Kent Street. This former warehouse was built in 1893 in the Victorian style but was partly rebuilt in 1904 after a fire with Federation and Free Classical styles. On the right corner with Argyle Place is a row of terraces which has commercial space on the ground floor with residential space above, built around 1906 in the Federation style. The high rise office buildings in the distance, including Salesforce Tower, are in the central business district. The Windmill Street Bridge and Munn Street Bridge in the foreground were built in 1910 when Hickson Road below was cut out of the sandstone cliff to provide a link between the wharves on Walsh Bay and those being built at Darling Harbour.

Rose Bay

Looking towards the eastern suburb of Rose Bay, from a boat on Sydney Harbour. The school at the top is Kincoppol-Rose Bay, a Catholic school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. The houses have views of the harbour and the rocks along the shore are popular with swimmers.

Arncliffe Market Gardens are located along West Botany Street, in what is now the southern suburb of Banksia. These heritage-listed market gardens have been occupied by market gardeners since 1892.

Haymarket, Christ Church St Laurence

 
A view of Christ Church St Laurence, an Anglican church located along George Street, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This heritage listed church was built in 1845 and designed by Henry Robertson and Edmund Blacket in the Old Colonial Gothick Picturesque and Victorian Free Gothic styles. A shop with residence above is located alongside it on George Street and the clock tower at Central Railway Station can be seen in the distance.

Rockdale, Brighton Terraces

The entrance to the "Brighton Terraces" housing estate is located along West Botany Street, in the southern suburb of Rockdale. These terrace houses were built around 2000 in the Modern Victorian style. The buildings are clearly visible in the middle of winter, with the leaves fallen of many of the trees.

Maddens Plains, view


This view is from Panorama House, located along the Princes Highway at Maddens Plains, a mostly unpopulated area that stretches along the Illawarra escarpment between Thirroul and Stanwell Park. The view stretches to Wollongong, a city located 85 kilometres south of Sydney.

The Rocks, Argyle Terrace


"Argyle Terrace" is a pair of heritage listed terrace houses along Playfair Street in the Rocks. They were built in 1883 in the Victorian Italianate style as two storey worker's cottages. They were combined in 1972 to form a larger space for a restaurant tenancy, now housing Caminetto Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria.

Sylvania Waters, house


This commercial and residential building is next to the Doltone House function centre, located along Belgrave Esplanade, in the southern suburb of Sylvania Waters. It was originally built as a four bedroom house and then used as a restaurant and cafe. It is currently being used as office space.

Darlington, shop

 
This former corner shop and residence is located on the corner of Abercrombie Street and Shepherd Street, in the inner city suburb of Darlington. It is now only used as a residence.
