Why was Lewisham Sewer Vent listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register? Were any other sewers?
ReplyDeleteYes. There are a number of sewer vents on the heritage list. This one features unique brickwork patterns.
Delete..a sewer vent?
ReplyDeleteVent shafts allow air to enter and exit the system, which is important to help waste water flow. They are rarely so ornate though.
DeleteHaving it way up high is a great plan too.

ReplyDeleteA great relic of the Edwardian era
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a monument to a great person, but sewer vents are needed!
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I wonder if my neighborhood has sewer vents? Certainly nothing as ornate as this or I would have noticed!
ReplyDeleteThat's great
ReplyDeleteUnique brickwork patterns eh? Interesting information.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think they are unique.
DeleteHuh, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's much more picturesque looking at it than knowing what it is!
ReplyDeleteBack when design was a bit different. Beautiful.
