The Malek Fahd Islamic School is a private school in the western suburb of Greenacre. The mosque (top) features an impressive minaret and dome. The modern school buildings (bottom) also feature some distinctly Middle Eastern architectural designs. Established in 1989, Malek Fahd is now the largest islamic school in Australia with over 1700 students attending its primary school and high school. I'm continuing my series of photos for Harmony Day, which is coming up this Sunday.

ReplyDeleteInteresting building. I thought it was a mosque.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures.
Happy weekend.
Jossie, I thought it was a mosque too but I cannot find any separate information on it. It may be a mosque that is only used by the students. A bit like some Catholic schools have a chapel or church on their grounds that is only used by their school students.
ReplyDeleteImpressive buildings, but I wonder just what the children are taught in such schools. Such a pity Australian children are sent to such places when you have a great education system for all children.
ReplyDeleteLook at those beautiful CLEAR blue skies! Beautiful
ReplyDeleteThat is some great architecture to have fun photographing! I like it a lot! Thank you for stopping by-- I'm always delighted with your comments!

Such graceful buildings! Is that really a mosque attached to the school, or is it part of the school itself?
ReplyDeleteVery nice buildning and beautiful sky!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and interesting architecture.
ReplyDeleteWhat an beautiful building, I love the dome.
ReplyDeleteInteresting shots from Sydney!!
ReplyDeletelovely compositions!
ReplyDeleteDina, the second flag is the school's flag featuring the school's crest. Thanks for letting me know how much you're enjoying my multicultural series for Harmony Day. Good onya for saying 'good onya'. :)
ReplyDeletequite an interesting structure
ReplyDeleteBeautiful buildings. Thanks for sharing your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteLady Fi, I have done some research and am able to confirm that the first building is indeed a mosque, on the grounds of the school. Students from other schools have been invited to the school and were given a tour of the mosque. I have updated my post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing that research. It's not often you see a school with its own mosque in the grounds!
ReplyDeleteWarm bright buildings against a perfect sky - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe architecture of the school is quite unique, Jim.
ReplyDeleteLove those deep blue skies!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous architecture and the sky is so blue that is awesome! Thanks for visiting!

very nice photos....the sky is so blue!
ReplyDeleteWow, impressive.
ReplyDeletePicking up on what Glennis wrote, «Louis» worries that the West is committing cultural and religious suicide allowing radical Islam free rein. Perhaps the Islam that is taught there is not radical, but «Louis» doubts it very much. The West is going to "multicultural" itself out of existence.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful buildings! I never knew there was such a large Islamic population in Australia. Are your skies always so blue? Thank you for sharing & for visiting the House.
ReplyDeleteLouis la Vache, the concept of Harmony Day is to celebrate the inclusive nature of Australia and promote the benefits of cultural diversity. There is good and bad in all cultures and there are also many radical people in other religions and interest groups too. The West is made up of many different cultures and through history many of them have been guilty of eradicating parts of other cultures. I think multiculturalism teaches people that differences can be good and usually allows you to take the best of every culture. People fear what they don't understand and through learning about different cultures maybe we can eliminate the fear and radicalism to have a more cohesive and peaceful world.
ReplyDeleteAll harmony is good, and it's perfectly placed against the clear blue sky.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. The diverse architecture really adds a lot of colorful flavor to a city. Lovely blue skies...just like here in California! Thanks for stopping by at my blog.
ReplyDeleteClear skies. Liked most the info and neat shot of the building.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mosques..in breathtaking surroundings..
ReplyDeletecheers!
