The inner west suburb of Pyrmont was once an industrial waterfront with wharves, factories and warehouses. In recent years many of the old structures have been redeveloped into residential and commercial complexes. This old warehouse at Wharf 17 of Jones Bay Wharf at Pyrmont has been converted into office space. It is currently the Sydney headquarters for the Seven Network, one of Australia's three major commercial television networks. Sydney Tower and the city skyline can be seen in the background, located on the opposite side of Darling Harbour.
They have a nice building, BBC Scotland has an ugly white tower block lol.
ReplyDeleteNice angled shot and composition.
ReplyDeleteInteresting building. :P what is it in the background? the tall one?
Very neat building. It looks like the local jailhouse from my city.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they did a great job on the renovation!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to renovate!

very clever restoration.. it still looks so classic yet modern functioned.. and the angle you did, it must be taken from a high place.. very interesting effort.. did the best for the best.. great job.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment and for visit in my blog.
ReplyDeleteYes.Very neat building.
snapperoni, the tall gold building in the background is Sydney Tower. You can have a closer look here.
ReplyDeleteNice contrast with the Sydney skyline in the background.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see old buildings being transformed and used again in modern day.
ReplyDeleteBill showed us the McWhirter bldg in Brissie and this ranks up there with it for reuse. That entire area shows considerable mix of the old and the new with most creative reuse. I bet the inside of both buildings were gutted!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog J Bar. Nice shots!
ReplyDeleteNot a bad restoration. If that's head office, what's the one in Martin Place?
ReplyDeleteAnn, they have their news studio, news office and merchandise store in Martin Place. They produce their live programs from there such as Seven News, Sunrise and The Morning Show. The rest of their studios which were at Epping and Pyrmont were moved to a purpose built studio and office block at Australian Technology Park at Eveleigh, just before Christmas. The rest of the staff from this building will also move to Eveleigh.
ReplyDeleteStanding their firm ground, against the glas and metal from behind. Very nice composition indeed. A wonderful Thursday for you.
ReplyDeleteI wonder where you get all that blue sky from. I thought it was always raining in Sydney.
ReplyDeleteBruce.
Bruce, you have to pick your days and times. I took this on Saturday which was a beautiful clear sunny day but Sunday it was overcast and rainy. This morning was cloudy and grey but right now it's sunny and blue.
ReplyDeleteHi Jim -- I was just going to ask if you ever had a rainy gray day over there. Then I read your reply to the last comment. so you are just patient enough to wait for the right day huh? Beautiful pictures and interesting buildings.
ReplyDeleteYeah Sallie, we do get some grey days and we've actually had a quite a few lately. I get snap happy when the sun shines. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is so sunny here in your blog. And the city is so beuatiful. I need to put iSidney in my trips plan :-))
