This lighthouse keeper's cottage is located at South Head, in the eastern suburb of Watsons Bay. It is located close to the Hornby Lighthouse, in the Sydney Harbour National Park. Two sandstone cottages were designed by colonial architect Alexander Dawson and built in 1858 in the Victorian architectural style.
cool cottage
ReplyDeleteGreat looking building but I can't believe the fence was always there.
ReplyDeleteinteresting building ! the fence looks weird to me !
ReplyDeleteIt does look unusual as part of the verandah but it is a Victorian style.
DeleteI like the scalloped look of the fenced in porch. The building shows it's age. Would love to visit some day. My brother in law is from Sydney.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love our beautiful Aussie blue sky? Makes the whole day happier when the sky is blue!!
ReplyDeleteTrue! Say Hi to Blue Sky :D
DeleteWhen the world of symmetry ruled.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful place to live.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday, Jim.
Those fens seem to lock up the cottage...
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday.
Interesting Jim. It is not obviously showing it's age and the Victorian style is not common. It looks like a very comfortable and pretty large Lighthouse keepers home. Nice share.

Colonial Victorian architecture still looks stunning and absolutely suitable for Australian conditions!
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the little fence, however.
unusual but interesting building, happy blue Monday!
