This colourful sunset over Sydney Harbour was viewed from Mrs Macquaries Point, in The Domain. The sun sets behind the Sydney Opera House, near the southern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge at this time of year.
It is like the Impressionists said back in the 1860s and 70s.. you have to be at the right place at the right moment. 30 minutes later and 500 metres around and you would have missed the special image.
Such an iconic shot, Jim. Would recognize the Opera House any where. I notice that you taken many photos of the harbor with the opera house. I'll come back to see them when time permits--a great subject.
What a glorious photo of your city's beautiful, iconic opera house! It should be a on a postcard, a calendar, a tourism poster - at the very least! But I'm glad it's on SkyWatch Friday so we could all enjoy it - thanks for sharing! :-)
Beautiful shot! My husband and I were fortunate to be able to visit Australia a couple years ago. We did the walk over the top of the bridge which was fantastic! Standing on the steps of the Opera House was a very surreal experience. Sydney is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Now we have a son-in-law who is Australian so hopefully we'll be able to go back for a longer visit and see more of your country. Thanks for sharing, it's a great photo.
