This shop and residential building built in the Federation architecture style is located on the corner of Audley Street and Trafalgar Street, in the inner west suburb of Petersham. It has been used as a church by the Petersham Assembly of God since 1965.
It would've been a great shop in its day.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking place. I like the architectural features.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I love to learn of Sydney through these pages although I do not often comment. My thanks to you.
ReplyDeleteI never would have guessed it's a church! It looks like a train station to me.
ReplyDeleteToo bad they had to go and stick all of those air conditioners in the windows. It's an interesting place.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated with the odd look of the buildings in the federation style. I do not think that it is a particularly aesthetic style. Some look better then others! I guess it was in fashion then. I prefer the old "Queenslanders"! Even the humblest home shows a certain grace.
ReplyDeleteUnique in architecture and colours I think.
ReplyDeleteLooks a bit home made, the architectural style.
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat looking place. Glad to see it's being well used.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and unique architecture.
ReplyDeleteI would never have guessed it to be a church either and I was thinking, movie theater or perhaps like EG, a train station. It is interesting and different and you got a terrific shot -- as always! Hope your week is off to a great start, Jim!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
I wouldn't have guessed it was a church.
ReplyDeleteInteresting architectural style, Jim, but I think I prefer the pretty yellow Victorian in your previous post.

ReplyDeletethe distinctive roof is called a witches hat!
ReplyDeleteInteresting building, especially the roof on the turret. And an unsual building for a church.
ReplyDeleteShame about the window rattlers.
ReplyDeleteGood shots of Sydney - dont do a lot of urbam pictures myself - will have to pay closer attention!

I think this building is quite quite ugly and the one below quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness. Those turrets would stop traffic. Is that Rapunzel in the top window
ReplyDeleteVery unusual architecture for a church!
