The Grace Chinese Christian Church is located on the corner of Kensington Street and Premier Street in the southern suburb of Kogarah. This heritage listed building was built in 1938, in the inter war architectural style, for the Church of Christ, Scientist.
I love Art Deco. This is a very original building.
ReplyDeleteIs this art-deco? No idea. I think I might prefer Jim's 'inter war architectural style'. The only redeeming feature is the treatment of those double doors.
ReplyDeleteWhy 'grace'?
The "inter war" style did have art deco influences, but it certainly was different. I'm not sure about the name "Grace" but it's used by a number of different churches around the world who emphasise the basics of Christianity.
ReplyDeleteSuch interesting mix of architecture - great shot. Thanks for coming by. Have a great weekend - keep dry!
ReplyDeleteA very original building it is! Terrific capture for the day, as always, Jim! Enjoy your weekend!
