This Coca-Cola billboard is located at the intersection of William Street and Darlinghurst Road at Kings Cross, in the inner city suburb of Potts Point. The original neon logo billboard was erected in 1974, with the additional billboard on the left added in 1990. This famous billboard, attached to the Millennium Hotel, is the biggest in the southern hemisphere and viewed as an iconic landmark.
Thanks Jim. Great memories of walking around the area and having coffee at Tropicana Caffe or other coffee shops along Victoria Street.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Coke Cola owned this building outright.Something really grabs my attention here
ReplyDeleteThat huge indeed. Can't remember though when last I had a Coke. Please have a good Thursday.
ReplyDeleteAmazing, a Coke sign designated a heritage listing. It's certainly a product that has shaped the lives of all the world's people I suppose. For me, I drink nothing else! (In the way of soft drinks, that is!)
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail was is it heritage listed.
ReplyDeleteProbably the best known advertising board in Australia. The hotel has a rather interesting history too.
ReplyDeleteGreat sign and I love the angle of the shot.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's massive! One would instantly think that that structure is owned by Coca Cola.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at how Coke had managed to capture the world market. I just wonder if it taste the same in each country.
ReplyDeleteNice work, Thanks
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing the money companies will put into advertising.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do not like to drink coke, I will admit to really liking their logo.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely has that vintage 70s look to it. Glad it's still there!
ReplyDeleteI remember Dave showing me this iconic landmark on my first trip to Sydney Jim, he works for Coke.
ReplyDeletea classic sign ;)
ReplyDeleteLove how the billboard seems to be integrated into the building design! Like an artwork on the building!
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting -- don't usually like billboards all that much, but this really does look like it's part of the building -- plus it's ginormous!
ReplyDeleteIt is a landmark! Even I as a Melbournian know it and get my bearings from it when In Sydney :-)
