This signpost is located on the foreshore of the eastern suburb of Rose Bay. It is located beside the Sydney Seaplanes base on Sydney Harbour at Lyne Park. The signs show flight distances in miles, on the traditional Empire Flying Boat route from Sydney to: Brisbane (480), Townsville (1200), Darwin (2404), Singapore (4681) and London (12847).
That's an awesome shot!
ReplyDeleteIt is really an interesting sign to show other distant cities in the seemingly local signposts
ReplyDeleteI had been that area you took the photo from too :)
Interesting the different choice indeed.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good new month.

Since I've never been to Australia I think I'll choose the plane to Brisbane. But Sydney also looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI loved the link to the Empire Flying boats Jim, my Mum and Dad flew out to Africa from the UK in one of those way back in the 50's and I used to adore listening to the tales of that journey, quite magical flying so low over sea and land. Excellent shot for the theme today.
ReplyDeleteGrace, that's an interesting link. Great to hear about someone who travelled on that service.
ReplyDeleteJim you used to be able to go from Rose Bay to Grafton on the Catalina as well, not quite as glamorous as the other destinations.
