These heritage listed shops and residences are located along George Street at The Rocks. They were designed in the Victorian Free Classical architectural style and built in 1882 for Thomas Playfair, a prominent butcher, ship's providore and politician. They now contain two boutiques and a bakery cafe.

Such nice old buildings. I'd head for the Baker's Oven.
ReplyDeleteWhy shouldn't shops be included in the city's heritage list? The architecture was specifically designed for the shops' purpose, the space was well laid out and the shops were popular with the ordinary population in the area. Keep protecting those lovely shops.
