Paddington, art

This mural is on the side of a cafe on the corner of Oxford Street anf Perry Lane, in the inner city suburb of Paddington. It was created by artist Ignacio Querejeta. It is part of the Perry Lane Art Project, commissioned by Woollahra Council in 2019. It features an Australian white ibises which have come to be regarded as a problem species in urban areas as a result of their scavenging activities, scattering rubbish from tips and bins in the process. The species has acquired a variety of colloquial names such as "bin chicken" or "bin chook".

  3. There's a lot of Ibis art around the city these days. It's kooky (but I understand why! Ha!) #MuralMondays
