Lewisham, nursing home

This building is part of the former Lewisham Hospital, located along Thomas Street in the inner west suburb of Lewisham. The original Catholic hospital was built in 1889 on the grounds of St Thomas's Catholic Church. The hospital closed in 1988 and is now Catholic Healthcare Lewisham Nursing Home, a low-care hostel, high-care nursing home and self-care village.

  1. What an interesting old building. It’s wonderful that the original character has been preserved and that the building is still being used today.

  3. Nice looking architecture. I'm glad the outside was preserved. My mother in law was in a nursing home that once was a hospital and I understand the hospital I was born in eventually became a nursing home. I wonder how common that is.

  4. What a beautiful building. I like the rounded, tower-ish part. Different.
