Fig Tree Bridge

Fig Tree Bridge carries Burns Bay Road over the Lane Cove River and connects Hunters Hill with Linley Point. This girder bridge opened in in September 1963, replacing an iron truss bridge originally built on this site in 1885. The Seven Bridges Walk will be held tomorrow to raise money for Cancer Council NSW. The course is a 27 kilometre closed loop circuit that travels clockwise around Sydney Harbour, providing many magnificent views around the harbour. The seven bridges are Sydney Harbour Bridge, Pyrmont Bridge, Anzac Bridge, Iron Cove Bridge, Gladesville Bridge, Tarban Creek Bridge and Fig Tree Bridge.

  5. Very utilitarian in looks...as long as it does the job is what counts! I'm going to have to check out the Sunday Bridges meme.

  7. A BIG bridge...looks to be very sturdy and safe. It is sitting there between some beautiful water and the blue sky overhead.

  12. hee hee... If «Louis» were there, he would (ahem) hoof it over all seven bridges! That would be quite a walk, and most likely a very enjoyable one, all the more so because it was for a good cause.

«Louis» thanks you for contributing this to Sunday Bridges.
