Arncliffe Public School is located along the Princes Highway, in the southern suburb of Arncliffe. It was established in 1861 as the West Botany School. This headmaster's residence was built in 1879. The name was changed to Arncliffe Public School in 1885 with later buildings constructed in the early twentieth century.

ReplyDeleteI believe this was the headmaster's house. The school buildings around it are much larger. I will feature one of those school buildings tomorrow.

There used to be an old one-room schoolhouse (renovated to become a small home) just a few doors down from us. I loved to imagine what it would be like to be schooled there.
