This former church hall, built in 1909, is located along Renwick Street, in the inner west suburb of Leichhardt. It is attached to the heritage listed former Leichhardt Presbyterian Church facing Marion Street, built in 1885 with a façade of Romanesque inspired details. The church functions ceased in 1980 and the buildings are now used as a child care centre.

What a classic facade
ReplyDeleteLeichhardt Presbyterian Church facing Marion St, built in 1885 with a Romanesque facade, looks different from the newer (1909) church hall in Renwick St. Did the same architect design the front facade?
ReplyDeleteHels, they were built in different eras which explains the contrast in styles. Unfortunately, I can't find any info on the designers of either.
DeleteThey built well in those days. Looks sturdy.
ReplyDeleteI like the shape, like a child's square house with a triangle roof! I do like those long windows.
ReplyDeleteA very solid building!!
ReplyDeleteMy kids used to do toddler music there (lots of banging on African drums....) #MySundaySnapshot
ReplyDeleteI love how you've captured the sunlight in this image, Thanks for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
ReplyDeleteVery severe style, but suited to its original purpose, Jim. Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
