Redfern, yarning circle

This functional artwork is located outside the Marian Street entrance of Redfern railway station, in the inner city suburb of Redfern. It features a circle made up of a bench and Aboriginal art sculpted on metal. The plaque reads: A Place to Gather. This yarning circle represents all cultures coming together in Redfern. It offers a place to gather, a place of respite, a place of safety and refuge. It is a place to collect, contemplate and reconnect with family and friends. A place to open conversations and learn about Aboriginal culture and all cultures. In strength and unity, yarning has been used since the dawn of time, connecting people and places. Yarning shall endure here - please sit, relax and reflect. Celebrate culture, community and each other.
