Bondi Beach, post office (Theme Day: White)

This post van is outside the post office along Hall Street, in the eastern suburb of Bondi Beach. The heritage listed building was originally built in 1938 in the Art Deco/Egyptian style for the Commonwealth Bank. The bank closed in 2009 and Australia Post moved in here in 2021. Australia Post vans were traditionally red but in recent years they have been replaced with white ones.

  5. I like art deco buildings. Interesting they changed the color of the vans. They look almost like any other van on the streets in white. Although I'm sure residents recognize them!

    1. I'm wondering if it's because it's easier to sell the old vans if they are white rather than red and they don't need to spend money to repaint them.

  6. Not so sure how long it will be until Australia Post ceases to exist... Many countries around the world have or are going to have their postal services closed (any mail/parcels taken over by private companies). Thanks for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
