Cronulla Pavilion is located at South Cronulla Beach, in the southern suburb of Cronulla. The art deco building was designed by A.B. Polin in a European Functionalist style and built in 1940 at the southern end of Cronulla Park. It now houses the lifeguard patrol, a personal training gym and a cafe.

What a striking building! The art deco design and European Functionalist style really make Cronulla Pavilion stand out, it must be lovely to see it by the beach. www.melodyjacob.com
ReplyDeleteGreat pic! Funny how those old iconic buildings on the beach survived....#ThruMYLens
ReplyDeleteI hope they survive for a long time. There's talk that the nearby Oak Park Pavilion may be demolished. I hope not.
DeleteI love Art Deco designs used on beach pavilions, petrol stations, picture theatres etc. Especially when they are protected over the decades. But why is there a black roof popping up on top?
ReplyDeleteI've seen old photos of the building from the 1940s and the dark tiled roof on the first floor was there, so must have been part of the original design.
DeleteCronulla Pavilion seems like a striking example of art deco architecture that has been thoughtfully repurposed to serve both the community and beachgoers.
ReplyDelete...thanks.
