Brighton-Le-Sands, emergency response beacon

This emergency response beacon has been installed along Lady Robinsons Beach at Botany Bay in the southern suburb of Brighton-Le-Sands. This beach is not patrolled by life guards but a rescue tube is provided here. The solar-powered, 4G/5G-enabled, yellow units feature a 24/7 call button, microphone, camera, and loudspeaker to directly alert the Surf Life Saving State Operations Centre to emergencies.

  1. Does it also include tidal waves or do you not get them there?

    1. Traditionally we don't get them. We sort of don't get earthquakes either but I have noticed that's changed....

  2. I don't think I knew that was what they were. #WordlessWednesday

    1. It's a new addition to the beach and I had to go up close to find out what it is.

  3. Are life guards not needed in this part of the Bay? If the emergency beacon does go off, does the Operations Centre send emergency workers?

    1. It's a large beach and it's a large bay so it would impossible to patrol it all. It's relatively calm compared to ocean beaches and there are quite a few netted baths. But if there is an emergency, rescuers can be sent here.

  4. I haven't seen these here in the U.S., but we need them! This is a great idea. Thank you for linking up.
