Looking across Nita McCrae Park to Abraham Mott Hall, along Argyle Street, in the inner city suburb of Millers Point. The heritage listed building was built in 1904 in the Federation Arts and Crafts style as the Coal Lumpers' Hall for the Coal Lumpers' Union and is now used as a community building. The skyscrapers in the distance are in Barangaroo.

Interesting evening scene.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why coal lumpers chose an Arts and Crafts design building. Thankfully it is now Heritage Listed.
ReplyDeleteThat was the popular style around Federation.
DeleteNice contrast between the small house and those skyscapers.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful photo Jim
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that as no many of such places left in the city of Kuala Lumpur 很高興看到這樣的地方,因為吉隆坡市內這樣的地方已經不多了。
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast of garden with city, and the evening lighting and shadows.
ReplyDeleteI do love the words "Coal Lumpers," and the place name Barangaroo! It's fun to say! The green grass and the coolness of the darkness in the photo look so inviting on my hot summer afternoon.
ReplyDeleteNice contrast between the skyscrapers and the older building. Great light!
