Redfern Park is located the inner city suburb of Redfern. These three climbing poles are located close to the eastern perimeter, with a backdrop of Australian native paperbark trees or Melaleuca.
I'm enjoying your images. Everything is so warm and green there while it is so cold here. It's a nice cold now, though, with Christmas literally in the air with lights flashing and the smell of Christmas trees.
I thought they were indigenous ceremonial poles, Jim, rather than simply for kids to climb on. I don't think the council could cope with the insurance required if anyone were to climb up them.
Julie, I thought they might have been some sort of indigenous totem poles too but when I looked for information about them, they were described as climbing poles.
Theanne and Baron, I think you'd have to be very young and fit to climb them.

Even if one doesn't climb them, they look quite decorative, although the trees int he background must see them as some sort of threat? "We too were like you and then we were cut down and stripped and set up to scare you!"... Nice pic, Jim!
