Sydney Park, chimneys

The sun drops down behind these trees and chimneys at Sydney Park, which is in the inner city suburb of Alexandria, on the border with St Peters. These chimneys were once part of brickworks begun by Henry Goodsell in 1840. Bedford Brickworks were opened by Josiah Gentle in 1893, later taken over by Austral Brickworks in 1933. The brickworks operated here until 1970 before being redeveloped as parkland.

  5. Interesting how a grim industrial plant can become rather nice, with the right light and a bit of time.
