Martin Place, Commando Memorial Seat

The Commando Memorial Seat is a monument located in Martin Place near Macquarie Street. It is dedicated to those who gave their lives while serving with Australian Independent Companies Commando Squadrons and Special Forces during World War 2.

  1. I see memorial benches quite often, but never as intriguingly placed as this one.

  2. Those commandos were tough people who did the most dangerous jobs. Good they have a memorial.

  3. I don't know if I could sit on it but I'd like to read the center plaque...

  4. Quite unusual Jim. At 1st glance I thought it was a macro shot of some tiny electronic component.

  5. An interesting memorial. Does anyone dare to sit on it?

    1. There are so many other benches around the Martin Place mall, so people rarely use this one.

  6. I think this is one of the nicest and most unusual memorials I have ever seen. Leave it up to the Australians. They always do it with class.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Please leave me a message. Jim.
