The Rocks, Susannah Place Museum

Susannah Place Museum is located along Gloucester Street, on the corner of Cumberland Place at The Rocks. This view is from the rear entrance along Cambridge Street. Susannah Place is a terrace of four houses built by Irish immigrants in 1844 and includes a recreated corner shop which is at the top of the stairs. The heritage listed museum allows visitors to experience how families lived, worked and played in the past.

  2. We tried to make the most of our four short days in Sydney in December, and enjoyed rambling around The Rocks. Definitely a city to which we need to return!

  4. I wouldn't have thought of this as a museum. I guess I'm used to the modern building housing museums.

  5. I was on a tour of the rocks so I did not have a chance to go into the museum. There is so much to see in the rocks.

  6. How I'd love to visit! My Irish ancestors came to the US about the time this housing was built.
