Culwulla Chambers

Culwulla Chambers is a twelve storey commercial office building with this frontage to King Street and another to Castlereagh Street. This heritage listed building was designed by Spain, Cosh & Minnett and built in 1912 in the Federation Free style. At the time of its construction, it was Australia's tallest building.

  1. Very tall and thin - I wonder if the buildings next door where there when it was built.

    1. Yes they were, Stewart. The former Surrey Hotel in 1860 and Ashington Court in 1888.

  2. What a handsome building! It must have awed everyone who saw it when it was first built.
My post features flowers, berries, and more.
