Glebe, lamp

This lamp is part of the Jubilee Fountain, located on the corner of Glebe Point Road and Broadway, in the inner city suburb of Glebe. This drinking fountain was erected in 1909 to commemorate the golden jubilee of Glebe as a municipality. This  bronze coach light is surmounted on a sandstone column with Corinthian capital and ring banding with a floral motif

  1. It's a lovely fountain/lamp -- such intricate iron work.

  2. Replies
    1. Yes. Good observation. It does look like they've updated it with an LED.

  3. Nice that something from 1909 is still there.

  4. I don't remember this Jim. Next time when I'm in Glebe I'll have to look out for it.
Although last time I was there I was very distracted.
I was walking the the streets of the shopping centre of Glebe, my late hubby was in RPA with brain cancer. Looking for a soft pillow case for his head to alleviate the rough feel of the hospital ones on his surgical site.

I found a perfect soft one in a shop there ☺️

You're most welcome to join me in a cuppa at Tea With Jennifer,

  5. Very ornate and even better that they have update with LED.

  6. It looks so cool on top of the fountain.

Thanks for sharing your link at My Corner of the World this week!

  7. Very lovely, and a nice focal point for the fountain.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Please leave me a message. Jim.
