This artwork adorns the foyer of the Mordant Wing of the Museum of Contemporary Art. "Bodies of Water" was created in 2024 by Hayv Kahraman, an Iraqi-Swedish-American artist of Kurdish descent In researching Australia's immigration policy, Kahraman began to draw parallels between water, migration and the processes of Ebru marbling, a traditional Turkish art form which involves painting on water.
These posters are looking lovely
ReplyDeleteAttractive art!
ReplyDeleteAn Iraqi-Swedish-American artist of Kurdish descent, who has a successful career in Australia, sounds like the perfect persion to be researching Australia's immigration policy. I bitterly resent wealthy, smug Australians who want to pull refugee ships back out to sea, to drown the desperate people.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting exhibition by the look of it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing art works
ReplyDeleteNice posters. I remember seeing something different in that spot by the staircase a few years ago, so they probably change the art work often. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Jim.
