Rockdale railway station is on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line, in the southern suburb of Rockdale. This view of Platform 3 is from the concourse. The railway station opened in 1884 on the line from Redfern to Hurstville. The Tangara or T set trains are a class of electric multiple units that entered service between 1988 and 1995.

Nicely composed.
ReplyDeleteGreat facade
ReplyDeleteWe had necessary rain in Melbourne this morning, but I couldn't find a nice sheltering space like the Rockdale Railway Station has. My hat looked drippy.
ReplyDeleteThey've done a good job in providing shelters at these heritage railway stations.
DeleteThat's a very pretty photo. I like the yellows and reds. Nice viewpoint.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo. I also love that mass transit has such an early history in Australia.
ReplyDeleteOpened in 1884. To me, that's amazing, although the New York City (where I grew up)'s mass transit trains actually started operation in the late 1870's. Nice colors against the blue sky.
