Waterloo, metro station, art

This artwork is beside the escalators leading down to Waterloo metro station, an underground station in the inner city suburb of Waterloo. The station is on the Sydney Metro North West & Bankstown Line and opened in 2024 when the Metro North West Line was extended from Chatswood to Sydenham via Central. "Footprints on Gadigal Nura" was created in 2024 by indigenous artist Nicole Monks. It is a monumental sculptural map made of over 100 individual cast aluminium feet of community members, shows locally significant sites along what is now named Botany Road.

  1. This is a beautiful mural, and will be seen by many people, who might notice the design, but surely will notice the individual footprints.

  2. Great installation and design. It would have taken a while to put up all those footprints. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Jim.
