'Hillside' is a historic house located on the corner of Villiers Street and Oswell Street, in the southern suburb of Rockdale. It was built around 1910 in the Federation Style and was the Favell family home but also the meeting spot for the Congregationalist Church. There have been plans to demolish the house and redevelop the property but the local council recently listed it for heritage protection so that may not happen.
Heritage protection is vital to preserve Australia's architectural history. I would lock up a person for 5 years if he tore down the Rockdale House for his personal profit.

I love the rock and stone work.
ReplyDeleteIt rather reminds me of my paternal grandmother's house. I always liked it. A lovely shady porch for a hot day.
ReplyDeleteA fine looking building.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful house. I hope it is rescued from demolition!
