Cronulla, Oak Park Pavilion

Oak Park Pavilion is located in the southern suburb of Cronulla. It was built in 1939 by W.F. Foster and Co. in the art deco style. The building is located along The Esplanade, on the edge of Oak Park, overlooking a small beach and rock pool. This beach pavilion has change rooms, showers and public toilets. I took a photo of this fourteen years ago and the difference can be seen here.

  4. What a fantastic piece of beachside history, and you just can't beat that classic 1939 Art Deco styling! It is amazing how these pavilions have stood the test of time, serving generations of swimmers looking to wash off the salt from the rock pool. I always love a good "then and now" comparison, and looking back at your photo from fourteen years ago is such a neat way to see how the landscape has shifted. Thanks for sharing this lovely spot on The Esplanade—it's a perfect addition to Travel Tuesday!
