The Kogarah war memorial is located beside Jubilee Oval in the southern suburb of Kogarah. It was established in 1919 and dedicated to the Naval and Army Corps involved in World War 1. It was originally located on Gray Street at nearby Kogarah but was moved to this reserve to accomodate a wider road there. Tomorrow is Anzac Day, which is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, commemorating those who served and died for their countries.
What a beautiful sky to set off the monument.

Lovely photograph, I'd love to see Sydney
ReplyDeleteI know people don't remember WW1 much during the year, but on ANZAC Day, I am glad we have peaceful garden sites for our war memorials.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot.
ReplyDelete;beautiful monument
ReplyDeleteAn interesting place, to be sure. Thanks for sharing these, my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to see the number of small momuments like this scattered around the countryside. Hope we get some good weather over the long weekend for more Sky Watch spotting.
ReplyDeleteIt will be crowded there soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful landscaping and a beautiful day to be there.
ReplyDeleteMakes on long for building a memorial for a happy day. Wishing you a wonderful start into the weekend.

Que tengas un feliz dia nacional.
ReplyDeleteAunque las guerras son tristes de recordar.
Saludos.
As long there are wars there will be memorials. By the look of it there is no end to it. Besides a nice memorial is the least we can provide. My father hated the military and its indoctrination; he would be 107 years old.
ReplyDeleteYour photo looks peaceful.
Wow - there are certainly a lot of war memorials in your area! It's so necessary to honor those who fought for their countries.
ReplyDeleteSusie, there is a war memorial in almost every suburb in Sydney, especially in the older areas. Sadly, there have been a lot of Australian lives lost in wars and every suburban community wanted to remember their lost loved ones.
ReplyDeleteIt wont be so lonely tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMiguel Martinez, on Anzac Day we say 'Lest we Forget' or in other words 'so that we should not forget'.
