Rookwood, pavilion

Rookwood Necropolis is the largest multicultural cemetery in the southern hemisphere. Anglican, General, Independent, Jewish and Muslim Trusts are the custodians of this site to provide burial and commemoration services. This is the Chinese World War 2.

  1. Wow. I think that for the first time, I'm comprehending the size of this place. How many people are interred here? What is the area of this place?

  4. Amazing, I had no idea..... how are you going with these posts..... is this it, have you "saved the best for last" or is there more?

  6. Jan, I do have a few more good shots from Rookwood but I might save those for another time when I get a chance to gather some more for a better presentation. I also want to mix it up a bit, in case people get bored with same subject every day.

  8. Still haven't managed to get out to Rookwood yet, Jim. But your coverage is simply terrific. Did you get any of the individual crypts and In Memoriams?

  9. Julie, I don't have any more crypts but I have a lot more photos of monuments, memorials and chapels. I might show some of the war memorials around Anzac Day. I'm planning another trip out there because there was so much I didn't get a chance to see or photograph. I'm taking a map next time.

  11. They are lovely.

I found out about Tempe House by chance. It was buried at the back of a list of historic houses events that was linked through a newsletter I subscribe to. There was no time given and it took ages to find out details from Rockdale Council who didn't seem to know much about it. Don't know how you find out when its open. If I hear about it again, I'll let you know.
