This sculpture sits beside the Art Gallery of New South Wales in The Domain, overlooking Wolloomooloo. "Reclining Figure: Angles" was sculpted by Henry Moore in 1980 in bronze with a green patina. Following on from the works I featured yesterday, now this is definitely art.
There is a Henry Moore sculpture outside of the San Francisco Symphony hall. Moore has his admirers - but «Louis» isn't among them.

Louis beat me to it! Not everyone thinks Moore created art. They would rate him as you did the sculptures you posted yesterday. Just like the hassles that the Archibald has had trying to draw a line between portrait and charicature.
ReplyDeleteI think they are all art ... even yesterdays.
Louis and Julie, I had no idea that Henry Moore had detractors.
ReplyDeleteI saw several Henry Moore sculptures at the Norton Simon in Los Angeles, It seems he was quite prolific in his artwork.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to learn about Henry Moore! I guess everyone has a different idea about what makes something "art". Great post and photos as always! Have a wonderful week, Jim!

Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm not one of Henry Moore's admirers, either, but I agree, this seems more artistic than the previous post's examples
ReplyDeleteYou're right, this is an improvement over the ones we saw yesterday. :~)
ReplyDeleteI like its location, too. It looks like a nice, restful place for reclining.

ReplyDeleteAwesome photography! Thank you for your kind words on my blog! :) Will be checking in here more often now!
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see both this post and the one previous at the almost the same minute! (I'm behind on my reading)...
ReplyDeleteI like this sculpture. Sometimes it is good to be under-educated ;>)

ReplyDeleteI did not see this when I was there, although the background looks familiar.
