Dolans Bay, wharf

Wally's Wharf is the name of this local landmark in the southern suburb of Dolans Bay. The wharf sits on the Port Hacking estuary and is very busy in the summer months. A boatload of locals can be seen here returning from a trip to the beach.

  1. Nice summery shot that I really like while holed up in my house while a blizzard rages here in Oklahoma, USA.

  5. BlossomFlowerGirl, I don't think this wharf is big enough for a ferry to stop there. It's mostly used by fishing boats and dinghys. It looked like these youths were returning from a day of surfing at the beach.

  15. Dianne, that's a good question. I'm sure there's a good story behind the name Wally's Wharf.

Peter, I have seen people swimming in various parts of Port Hacking but considering there are many netted swimming areas around the estuary, I think it would be sharky.

  20. MaCoBra, the cyclone hit overnight but we're still waiting to hear how devastating it was. Cyclone Yasi seemed to miss the two biggest populated cities Cairns and Townsville but smaller towns in between have been hit hard.
