Leichhardt, Pioneers Memorial Park

The Norton Street entrance of the Pioneers Memorial Park, located in the inner west suburb of Leichhardt. The site was formerly Balmain Cemetery and became a place of recreation in 1941, when it was renamed to pay tribute to the pioneers of the district. The war memorial and a rotunda can be seen from here.

  1. The rich blue of the sky highlights the lovely design of the arch!

  2. Another from my part of the world:) I like the way you have used the arch. Great shot.

  3. Delicious exquisite composition with colors, I like how you captured this beautiful monument. A greeting.

  4. Wow, that's beautiful!

Visiting from Blue Monday- hope you can stop by..

  5. A cemetery becomes a playground? I find it strange. Thanks for sharing.

    Happy Blue Monday, Jim.

    1. It certainly is unusual. I have visited this place a few times but had no idea of the history until I did some research for this post.

  6. An unusual spot for a playground. Lovely rock work in the arch way, and a nice Memorial to the Pioneers. Thanks for visiting CITexas Gal today for Blue Monday.

  7. This is a great capture ,thanks for sharing Jim. Happy Blue Monday!
