Tsuki, yes the suburb La Perouse is named after the French explorer Jean-François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse. The peninsula at the end of the suburb is linked to the island.
That's a terrific view. I can see why so many vehicles are parked out there on the point. I'd love to head across the footbridge to the little island...
