The Domain, Domain Lodge

Domain Lodge, also known as St Marys Lodge, is located along Mrs Macquaries Road, at the entrance to The Domain, near St Marys Cathedral. This sandstone building was built  in 1835 as a gatehouse lodge for The Domain parkland.

  2. The grilled windows surprise me! But maybe the location demands it! Fascinating building!

  3. It looks ideal as a gatehouse lodge to the park. Is that what it is still used for today?

    1. Not sure but it's part of a depot for the Botanic Gardens and The Domain. It could be an office for a manager.

  6. What a beautiful vintage entry with its iron fencing. These are the pictures I so love. I know I will never be able to get to Australia so my memories of sites like this will have to remain the ones from the United Kingdom. Beautiful green! genie
