This view across Jones Bay to Barangaroo and the Sydney Harbour Bridge is from the inner city suburb of Pyrmont. The boats are moored beside Jones Bay Wharf and the old warehouse building on Darling Island was originally part of Sydney's port facilities. The wharves have now been redeveloped for commercial and residential purposes.
The Venice of the south.
ReplyDeleteWe might expect Victorian-era wharf areas to be pretty seedy by now. But your photos suggest that Pyrmont is looking excellent.
ReplyDeleteWonderful place and excellent photo for Reflections ~ ^_^ ~ love the water and the boats!
ReplyDeleteTo see the same area as it was in the early to mid 1990s I have several canvases that I painted from the same viewpoint (James Watkinson Park & Ways Terrace) on the "Pyrmont paintings" page of my blog http://janebennettartist.blogspot.com.au/p/pyrmont-paintings.html
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, Jane.
DeleteTerrific capture and beautiful skies as always, Jim! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of Jones Bay Wharf before; enjoyed your photograph Jim
ReplyDeleteThe effect of the stairs on the building is very interesting.
