Lunar Lanterns were installed around Circular Quay to celebrate the Chinese New Year Festival. In the Chinese zodiac, every year is symbolised by an animal and this year is the Year of the Dog. The park in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art featured this giant lantern of a Dragon created by Guan Wei. He depicts a little boy retrieving a jewel from the Dragon’s mouth, enabling it to expel water and bring rain to the land. The zodiac symbol of the Dragon can be characterised as lucky, flexible and eccentric who is generous and powerful.
At least it is warm and sunny there instead of cold like here

Your thoughtfulness is one of the reasons I appreciate you being one of the community of All Seasons! Many thanks for this cheerful and giant Chinese lantern and hope you enjoy the rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeannette. Yes, I try and feature notable events in Sydney as much as notable buildings and scenes.
