Mortdale, railway station

The entrance to Mortdale railway station at the end of Morts Road near the corner of Cook Lane, in the southern suburb of Mortdale. The original station opened in 1897 but was relocated further north in 1922, when a new deviation of the line opened. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 line services on the Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line. The lifts from the street to the concourse and down to the platforms were installed in 2007.

  1. Very different from the late Victorian and Edwardian railway stations we are used to.

    1. The heritage buildings on the platform remain but the entrances are more modern.

    1. Yes, they do. That's a lift on the left hand side, which connects the street with the concourse. Another lift takes passengers down to the platform.

  3. Covered stairs are nice on rainy days such as we are having today.
