Haymarket, Memory Lines

'Memory Lines' or the Australian Workers Memorial is located in Reflection Park, in the inner city suburb of Haymarket. This 4.5 metre sculpture was designed by Ingrid Skirka and is made from bronze, steel and cement. It is a memorial dedicated to those workers who lost their lives in the workplace. This area has been redevolped but a past view can be seen here.

  1. What a powerful and meaningful memorial. Memory Lines serves as a poignant tribute to workers who lost their lives, and its design sounds truly striking. Reflection Park seems like a fitting place for such remembrance. Thanks for sharing this—I’d love for you to check out my new post as well!

  2. We have seen manumy such accidents in Sweden in the last few years. Mostly construction workers. Very sad.

  3. I like the more recent photo better - nice redevelopment surrounding a sad memorial.

  4. In Finland we have deadly work accident around 12 per year. All sad but I think that we have very good rules and regulations to prevent them.

  5. What an interesting sculpture! Sad reason for it's being. The area looks much nicer, and welcoming, in this photo. Nice subtle shadows!

  7. Interesting. One of the saddest things to read on the news is that workers died while doing their job.
