Waterloo, metro station

Waterloo metro station is an underground station in the inner city suburb of Waterloo, on the Sydney Metro North West & Bankstown Line. It opened in 2024 when the Metro North West Line was extended from Chatswood to Sydenham via Central. This is the entrance on the corner of Raglan Street and Cope Street.

  2. When Waterloo was first selected as a name for Sydney, did people get anxious about the name's historical connections? Do passengers talk about "meeting your waterloo"?

    1. It was named for the Battle of Waterloo when Allied forces ended the Napoleonic Wars. I'd say most people wouldn't even know the connection these days.
