This coastal patrol boat was moored in Botany Bay, just off the beach at Brighton-Le-Sands. In the background, a plane is coming in to land on the Sydney Airport runway that extends into the bay and a ship that uses the port facilities at Port Botany can be seen between the heads.
Great capture with the boats, and the plane coming in over the bay!
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with Stephany.
ReplyDeleteI like all the elements of this great photo. You have a great eye and made a wonderful capture.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they get a lot of "rescue" action out at sea?
ReplyDeleteLeif, I think they do. Here's a link to the Coastal Patrol website.
ReplyDeleteMy dad used to be in the VCP but the boats were nowhere near as flash. From memory, a lot of the time he went out in his own boat. Don't remember them having a proper CP boat at all. I used to go out with him when I was a kid and I remember doing a couple of tow-ins where people had broken down or got stuck in the bombora.
ReplyDeletePerfect timing to catch that plane in the background. Great weather on that day too!
ReplyDeleteNice shot with the 747 on final approach looks like a Lufthansa. Aso interesting with the ship in the background and the story.
ReplyDeleteHi! Greetings from Finland. I´m just looking around and found to this blog. Nice pictures you have.
ReplyDeletefantastic view.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great shot! I like how you caught the plane coming in too, although I'm glad I'm not on that plane. I'm a nervous enough flyer without having to come in for a landing over the water!
ReplyDeleteYou live in such a beautiful country with the friendliest people ever...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rambling Woods. That's very nice of you to say so.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this photo - the colors, the composition, and that airplane is an added bonus!
ReplyDeleteGreat sky and sea shot...and great timing.
